| Remarks owner: | The owner of # 83542 is Michael Rieder; \I have owned it for 30 years. The original color was white with red interior. It had Texas plates on it when I discovered it broken down at a gas station in St. Louis, Missouri. The push rod engine had a cracked case under the oil cooler. I bought it from the owner over the phone, never met him since he was then on the East coast! It was my only car when I was in graduate school and the Navy. I failed to realize the value of it and consequently drove it all through Baja, Mexico and even into remote areas of Death Valley, CA. (all on dirt roads!). I didn\'t know that I had a GS for about 5 years at which time I started to restore the car only to find the name plate under much grime. I obviously was wondering what the heck the extra switches were on either side of the tachometer. The tach was for the correct motor in the car at the time. I have since found the correct tachometer. The car is still without 4 cam but Bill Doyle is finding parts for a 1500 and will mate the car and engine again.\"" |
